All the way back in May I had the opportunity to go to BEA (Book Expo America) for the 2nd time. It was great fun and I posted all about it before. (you can go HERE to read about our adventures :)
I picked up quite a few ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) and decided that I wanted to do a giveaway. Problem was, I wanted to read most of them first, so that is why it's taken so long for me to FINALLY get around to posting these. (so yes, the books [some of them] have been read, but I treat my books with great care and you won't even be able to tell [honest])
In order to spread around as much book love as possible I decided to do a whole WEEK of giveaways. So you have the chance to win one of FIVE (that's right, FIVE) goody bags!
Are you excited yet, because I AM!
So FIRST the RULES (I know, I know, BORING, but a necessary evil...)
1. In order to enter you must be a follower and leave a comment on the day that you want to be entered in. (this is all you have to do to enter, but of course I'll give you a chance to earn some extra points :)
2. You can enter ALL 5 days!
3. For extra bonus points you can:
a. BLOG about it! You only have to blog ONCE, but it will give you an extra entry into each day that you comment - so if you blog on Wednesday and comment on Monday, Tuesday and Friday you'll get an extra entry for all 3 of those days even though you only blogged once (get it? OK!) Oh, yeah, and let me know in the comments on one of these 5 days.
b. Put a linky on your sidebar! (same rules as a. Extra entry for each day you comment) Also leave me a comment on one of the five days.
c. Tweet! (or Facebook link if you don't have Twitter) This one you get an extra entry for each day that you Tweet it. So if you enter on Monday, then you would Tweet/Facebook on Monday. If you enter all 5 days, then for maximum points you would Tweet/Facebook all 5 days... make sense? Include @SonshineMusic so I know you did it!
4. The contest will run for a full week. So you have until Sunday night (the 10th) to enter today's contest. Then till Monday night for tomorrow's, etc.
Easy Peasy, right?!
Oh, I guess you want to know about the PRIZES for today!
Day 1: Girl Stuff :)
- A fantastic BEA tote bag! (This one's from Midpoint Tradebooks)
- Alphas by Lisi Harrison
- Access Denied (and Other Eighth Grade Error Messages) by Denise Vega
- Ask Amy Green: Boy Trouble by Sarah Webb
- Alphas t-shirt and nail files
- bookmarks
Are you totally psyched now?! (I swear there are some less girly giveaways later this week, check back :)
So now you probably want to know what you're getting, right? Okay, here's my mini and non-spoilery reviews!
Confession time. This is actually from when I went last year. They've been sitting nicely on my bookshelf and it's just not a book I'm ever going to read. Nothing against the book or the author, just not my cup of tea... but here's a brief review from GoodReads.
"At OCD the losers are tormented.
At Alpha Academy, they're sent home.
Skye Hamilton has scored an invitation to the ultra-exclusive Alphas-only boarding school where beta is spelled LBR . What happens when the country's best, brightest, and hawtest begin clawing and scratching their way to the top?"
This is from the author of the wildly popular Clique series and the second book, Movers and Fakers came out a little while ago.
Erin managed to survive The Year of Humiliating Events (aka 7th grade) and she's determined to make 8th the best year ever. Unfortunately nothing seems to be working out the way she plans. Her mom's treating her like she's still a little kid, the new girl at school is messing with her head and having her first boyfriend isn't really like she thought it would be. Plus her former crush and good friend, Mark is acting very strange. When it seems like things couldn't get any worse, Erin receives terrible news that turns her world upside down. Will eighth grade be an even bigger disaster or can she find the inner courage to turn things around?
Before I start the review, I just want to say that reading this book was like reading about a relative of Mia Hayson. Oh my garland it was rather hilarious!
Okay, on to the review.
Thirteen year old Amy Green is an Irish girl with a lot to deal with. Her parents have recently divorced and now her mom's had two babies with Dave and Amy's supposed to be available for babysitting duty at all times. Then there's her dad, who is living with "her", the secretary he had the affair with.
It's a good thing she's got her cool and crazy seventeen year old aunt Clover to help her out. Then Clover gets a job giving advice for the teen magazine Gloss and now she wants Amy's help. It's not enough to just write a response, Clover's determined to get involved... personally and she drags Amy into the middle of it with her. But somehow, in the middle of family crises, her first real crush and major friend troubles, Amy finds that helping the girls that write in is giving her a different perspective. The question is, can she follow her own advice?
So there you have it! 3 fantabulous books! So Comment, post, blog, Tweet, whatever! And come back TOMORROW for another chance to win MORE books!

Hehehehe, ZOMG really? Like reading about a relative? LOL :)
I would LOVE to read that *huggles* Will defs Tweet this week!
Also, and I know to a lot of people this will sound random, but I do like windchimes just not ones that hang outside and are really high pitched. It was sooo windy and they dingled all night *nods* I bare them no ill will now though.
My folks have some by the door that I like, cause they only make a noise when people walk through. I love trying to get in silently like a SUPER NINJA.
*coughs* Hehe the randomness continues...
Also, I understand the reading them first thing :) They are ARCs after all, and it's good that you know what you're giving away.
Awesome contest, especially for those sad folks (like me) who missed BEA...
I've blogged about it: http://elephantsontrapezes.blogspot.com/2010/07/just-when-you-thought-you-were-done.html
And side-barred it: http://elephantsontrapezes.blogspot.com
And tweeted about it: http://twitter.com/ReaderlyPerson/status/17799452689
Cheers,
Rebecca
Sweetness!! I'll put you up in my sidebar. :)
What a great contest - you have some amazing stuf there.
I'm across the pond so I won't enter but I wish everyone good luck!
Woo-hoo! Sounds like a fun week! I put a link at the TOP of my page instead of in my sidebar, and it shows up with my blog post. I'm hoping you'll count that as both?! I will link it to my facebook, too. :-)
AHH what an awesome week of contests!
Please enter me! I'm a follower and I tweeted! http://twitter.com/aLmYbNeNr

OMG I would so love to win these books!! What an awesome opportunity!!! I forgot to mention in one of my comments that I would be tweeting on it! I'll be attaching your name (since I just learned how too!!)
I'm jealous you went to the BEA but I'm loving you because of all the books your giving away!!! Here's me wishing myself awesome amounts of luck for this package, hehe!
That's a cool package of books, Rebecca. I've heard Denise Vega speak (she's one of our awesome Colorado authors) and enjoyed her a whole bunch.
Ok, I officially think blogger hates me. It eats comments (mine on other people's pages, other peoples' on mine), it doesn't post posts I want to post and the design thingy is just weird.
Thank you for the heads-up about my commenty lackyness...
This is a really cool idea and it's lovely that you're sharing your BEA experience with us. I also absolutely get reading everything first (I can barely stop myself reading any book i ge tmy hands on, and they arent ARCs, so I completely get it).
